It was a gorgeous summer evening when Heather and Sebastian had their engagement session done. Even with the smoky and hazy sky, it created soft lighting and worked in our favor. As we walked around, I am reminded how lucky we live in Calgary with plentiful greenery and clean water. These two lovebirds are going to tie the knot very soon and I look forward to seeing all the details they’re putting into their wedding! Here are a few highlights from their session.

I love it when clients take up on my suggestion for a later evening engagement session. The light is so much softer and warmer, plus it’s usually more quiet at night. Tracy and Tom wanted an urban location and I took them to the north for some old school architecture buildings. I wish Calgary has been more of these buildings because I love the look and history behind it. We got so many different looks from hanging out at the sandstone buildings to a park nearby.  I’m really looking forward to their summer wedding and what other kinds of photos we can get with their wedding party!

How did you get engaged?
We got married on May 15, 2015. Thong asked me to go watch Fast Furious 8. As we were on our way, he detoured to his house under the guise that he needed to pick something up before we went
to the movies. We walked into the house and there was a trail of rose petals leading to the living room with the instrumental version of “1000 Years” was playing. He led me into the living room, got on one knee and asked me to marry him. Once I stopped crying and said yes, our family and friends popped up from the upstairs balcony screaming. We went out for dinner and celebrated.

Hope everyone had a fun filled Canada Day long weekend! I’m excited to show Amanda and Matt’s engagement photos that we took on a summer evening. The session was planned back in April actually, but a thick fog rolled in on that day and it completely obscured the downtown view. So we had to reschedule until we knew all snow would be gone and no chance coming back after April and May (hahaha, we live in Calgary. I should know better).

Amanda and Matt’s wedding is coming up soon and I’m really looking forward to it because they have planned to have lots of gorgeous details. I can’t spill the beans on that yet but I am involved in it 😉
