All the latest and past work I've done over the last few years. Everytime I post a new entry, I feel very lucky to capture important memories that will last a lifetime for that person.

Two weeks ago I teamed up with some amazing Calgary wedding creatives to photograph a stylized wedding in the heart of downtown Calgary. Nikki from Posey Lane Weddings, created the look for the Winterberry theme and the color palette were mainly white with berry colors.  Needless to say, I was really excited to photograph this look.

Besides photography, I also created the stationery and calligraphy as well. Nikki was excited that I could create the artwork since I made some for her back in October for two other stylized weddings. The stationery was all hand done on handmade cotton paper in modern calligraphy that’s super trendy right now.

The indoor location at Divino’s, was perfect with the texture brick wall, lots of window light and hardwood floors. Our model Nicole, took directions really well and I took a ton of photos in the gorgeous lace dress with a luscious bouquet. Once the main model images were done, it was time for tablescape and close up detail shots. It was hard not to plop myself down and start wolfing down three cakes. That’s right, three cakes and all were decorated slightly differently with textures. Everything was set up really nicely, especially with the three hanging flower circles. I saw those kind of hanging flower circles in luxury bridal magazines and it’s really a piece of art when you see it up close.

Miss K was just 8 days fresh when she had her first photo session in my studio. She looked identical to her older sister when I photographed her 14 days new, almost 2.5 years ago. It’s amazing how big the older sister is now, and even her hair color has changed. When I photographed her older sister, she was wide awake 99% of the time, and she gave me a good run for my money to try and lull her to sleep. Miss K was very tired at the beginning, and we got some beautiful sleepy images. But soon Miss K, just like her older sister, woke up and gave me wide eyed looks the rest of the time.  Even though Miss K didn’t snooze through the entire three hours session, we got a variety of sleepy and wide eyed images.

Introducing Miss K to the world!

Jenny is one of the sweetest gal I’ve met during my photographer career. I met her five years ago and what struck out most to me, was her friendliness and determination. That time I photographed her and her three best friends, Justine, Kim and Tracy, in downtown. Fast forward to today, they added another gal, Ashley, to join their sisterhood. Jenny traveled back to Calgary from Toronto to celebrate Kim’s birthday, and she thought a photo session capturing the gift exchange would be perfect. It was great timing we had the session mid September because the leaves were already changing colors and it was still warm.

I thought only Kim would get presents but it turns out, everyone got one too!

  • Linda - What a great concept for a photo shoot. Love it. You did a fantastic job of capturing their friendships with each other.ReplyCancel

    • Debbie - Thank you Linda for the kind words! It was a really fun session and to see the gals again after so long.ReplyCancel

Kate and Mike tied the knot on a gorgeous September long weekend at the Calgary zoo. Their wedding was a photographer’s dream because they allotted plenty of time for wedding photos pre-ceremony and post-ceremony. It was so relaxing because of their easy-going nature. They were open to going to a few different spots for photos.  Their wedding was great timing with Illuminasia. The Illuminasia displays were setup on the Calgary zoo grounds ahead of the grand opening, and all the displays definitely made a stunning background!

Once the photos were done, it was time to photograph all the details. I was in love with the candy bar, all those sour delicious candies in their cute little jars. I know I shouldn’t spoil my dinner but I couldn’t resist eating a few of them before the buffet.

Their wedding color schemes were blush pink and navy, with ivory and brown burlap touches on flowers and their décor. All the wedding details were cute, and personalized with calligraphy and watercolor artwork on the table seating chart, place cards and table numbers. The chalkboard artwork was done by Mike’s daughter, amazing work!

Now some words and advice from the happy couple:

  1. How did you get engaged?  Mike proposed with ice skating at the Olympic Plaza.
  2. What is your most favorite part fo the wedding planning process and why? Cake tasting, because it was delicious!
  3. What advice would you give to couples who are planning their wedding? Plan early, especially booking your venue as soon as possible1

Kate and Mike, all the best in your new life together!

Not only did he gift them all with luxurious bathrobes, he prepared a gorgeous bouquet for Kate and a Tiffany present. You’re one lucky gal Kate!

Before we could head out for their wedding photos with architecture and greenery garden spaces, it was one more stop for Diane and Tony. After their tea ceremony, the religious ceremony was held at their church. Once the official papers were signed, it was off for some fun wedding party photos! It’s a breath of fresh air when I’m given 3 hours for wedding photos. With that much alloted time, there was time to go to two different locations.

Before we start looking at part two of their photos, I always like to get a few words from the bride and groom themselves.

  1. How did you get engaged?

We got engaged in Paris at the Love Lock Bridge.

  1. What is your most favorite part of the wedding planning process and why?

Inviting our guests and seeing all of the planning come to life.

  1. What advice would you give to couples who are planning their wedding?

Just have fun. It’s okay to be a little selfish and keep in mind that the day is about you two. You can’t please everyone.

*Well said Diane and Tony for #3! Asian weddings tend to be extremely large, and is normal to have over 250-400 people. With that many people involved, it can be stressful when you get many opinions and they want you to implement it. At the end of the day, you want to be happy the way the wedding turned out. So listen to your heart!
